Hello again.

I've released another update. This one includes the ability to choose how the app will behave after a phone call was initiated from it. the app can either continue working, which means when the call ends, the phone will return to the app, or end when the call is over, which means the phone will return to the desktop.

Hello again :)

A Simple Call Log 1.1.3 is out.

The changes:

• Added the ability to determine the first tab that would be displayed (it will always be the tab on the left).
• In case there's only one missed call, the app's notification will display the name (or number) of the missed call.
• fixed several bugs related to the options screen interactivity (will no longer "jump" upwards when clicking on certain fields).
• a permission is removed for the free app - a permission that used to be required by an ads company.

I'd like to notify anyone with a 2.3.3 android OS: the android team has decided to prevent user apps (like this app) from using a certain permission which is required to remove the "android missed calls notification". this means that people with a 2.3.3 OS will have both the android notification and the app missed calls notification. this, however, can be prevented if you use certain apps (like titanium backup pro) to switch the app to a system app.

A small bugfix:

Added a missing "Edit number before call" option for an entry's menu for unknown numbers, when using the immediate call method. this option was only available for existing contacts.

explanation: the user can click on an entry to open a menu, or to call (long and short clicks). the menu includes several options, like view contact, add number to contact, send SMS, etc.

when using the immediate dial option, clicking to call doesn't lead to the dialpad, but instead immediately calls.

to enable editing numbers, the user can instead open a menu and choose the option to edit the number before the call.

this option was only available for contacts, and not for unrecognized numbers. this has been fixed.

Hello.

Version 1.1.1 is released.

this version includes the following bug fixes:

* opening the all-calls tab will no longer duplicate entries in other tabs.

* The app should now detect all missed calls, and always present its notification. it will always clear the Android's missed calls notification (Based on the user's configuration).

* fixed a bug related to inserting the amount of minutes in package. previously, in in case the minutes package checkbox was cleared, and the user would check it, a field would appear beneath it, but wouldn't be clickable - the user had to leave the options menu and then enter it again to insert the amounts of minutes in package. this is now fixed. after checking the minutes package checkbox, the user will be able to click on the field below it and insert the amount.

* it's now possible to install the app on both the internal and external memory. note that in order for the "load on startup" option to work, the app must be installed on the internal memory (Android requirement) - this is the default installation location.

IMPORTANT: if you had a previous version installed, and it was installed on the external memory, it would remain there, meaning the "load on startup" option won't work (this is due to the Android's OS). To move the app from the external memory to the internal memory, do the following:

go to the PHONE'S options menu (not the app), and choose "Settings", then choose "Applications". next, choose "Manage applications". a display with the applications list will now be visible. find "A Simple Call Log" and click on it. in the new display you'll see the application info. under "Storage", there's an option to clear the data, and next to it, the option to move the app (to destination is based on the app's current location). if the button says "Move to phone" it means the app is located on the external memory. if you want the "load on startup" option to work for the app, click on the button. it will change to "Move to SD card". from now on, when you reboot the phone, the app will automatically open.
Changing the app's installation location is not relevant for unrooted phones with Android versions below and including 2.1. on those phones the app will always be installed on the internal memory.

A Simple Call Log 1.1.0

A new version, with some nice improvements.

• Added an option to load the app on phone startup. this means when the phone is turned-on, it will detect missed calls and will create the app's notification, and will also (if the user configured it) will display the app's persistent notification.
• Removed the annoying double-missed-calls-notification". only the App's notification will now be displayed.
• Added the option to configure working with a minutes package. Check the "Use Minutes Package" check-box in the options menu, and enter the amount of minutes in the minutes-package. the amount of remaining/exceeded minutes will be displayed when clicking on the "conversations duration" button after clicking on the menu button.

Hello.

I have made an improvement to the application's load time.

Database access is improved, and requests only the relevant information, which results in less calculation time.
On my phone (motorola milestone, not rooted), the application now loads in about 1 second, instead of the 3-4 it was taking previously.

P.S.
there are requests to make this the default call log. instead of the one in the "phone, call log, contacts, favorites" tabs. as far as i know it can't be done due to the way the android operation system is designed... either there's a trick to it that i haven't yet found, or it may be changed in future android releases.

A Simple Call Log 1.0.8

This version includes an important bug fix for a bug in the general conversations duration mechanism.

in some cases it could cause a wrong calculations, and in other cases, even cause the app to crash. this is now fixed. thanks for the people that sent the error logs :)

during fixing that bug i also added an optimization which allows the app to load a bit faster now.

on my phone it takes about 2 seconds - lots of calls in the call log... it's a motorola milestone.

regarding the version skip (no 1.0.7), i made a mistake when building both the paid app and the free app, and only found out after i updated it on the market. so, i had to update again, and move to ver 1.0.8.
